一、根據國際癌症研究總署(INTERNATIONAL AGENCY FOR RESEARCH ON CANCER-簡稱IARC)92年結論，檳榔子(即菁仔)屬第一類致癌物，即使嚼不含任何添加物的檳榔子也會致癌。
二、根據最新癌症登記資料和死因統計，近十年，臺灣每年罹患口腔癌的人數已增加2倍，每年約有5,400名新診斷口腔癌個案，2,300人因口腔癌死亡。
